Here a peak at what's been going on in our crazy fun household; this blog post is all over the place:
Haven is crawling! He started officially crawling on January 11th - my birthday! He crawled 4-5 feet to get to me. A really neat coincidence is I felt Haven kick for the first time on my birthday last year. Two really cool milestones on my birthday - what will he do next year??
He's starting to think about pulling up; although he's no where near ready to pull up on a couch and stand there. Now that he's been crawling for a few weeks, he's really getting enough strength to get around, which means Jillian is in full 'hoarding' mode for her toys. If he starts heading for one of her favorite toys, she will dash over and grab it. Ohhhh the fights these 2 will have over toys. I can see it now!
Right after Thanksgiving I FINALLY made Jillian give up her paci. Yes, you can judge me. You should. She was almost 2 and a half! I just didn't want a big fight over it. Paci's were used only in her crib for sleeping for the past year. No day time use, come on, I'm not that bad. Anyways, it was a Tuesday and I was sick and had to stay home from work and that morning I decided we were going to accomplish something and I decided it was going to be the paci. For the past few months during Jill's TV time, I always put on this segment of Sesame Street about Elmo giving up his paci and we would always talk about her giving up the paci soon b/c she's not a baby. So I talked it up all day about her giving them to babies after her nap. And we did! We packed up all her paci's after her afternoon nap, put them in an envelope we decorated and then 'mailed' them to Elmo. Not one tear. Not one. I was shocked! She never cried about it. She was so proud of herself for being a big girl. I was in total shock. And she has never looked back or tried to steal one of Haven's. Whew. What was I so scared of?
Giving each one, one last bit of lovin'
Decorating the Envelope
Letting Elmo know, we are mailing these to him, and to 'PLEASE take good care of them!'
Haven is my new little shopping buddy. I LOVE that he can sit in the cart next to me!
Over Christmas Break we all went and saw a movie together. This was SO fun. Jill had never been to the theatre. And oddly has never eaten popcorn before. She LOVED it. We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks and she chatted some thru it, but otherwise was so good. Haven happily sat thru most of it, then got ansy so we took him to the lobby.
When it was my birthday, Jillian REALLY thought it was hers too. I kept telling her it's just my birthday, and then she'd smile and say 'and mine!' Of course letting her help me blow out the candles didn't help.
I must say, Jeff spoiled me rotten this year. He sent me to a really nice spa all day and then dinner out that night. Wow. Was that a great relaxing day. Just what I needed! thank you honey!
Are we even going to have a winter this year? I'm not complaining, I love it! I took the kids to the zoo last week and Jill ran around in the kids area where they have a stream. Yes, tons of other kids did it too. She had so much fun. Took me 10 minutes to coax her out.
Here we are playing in the backyard. Jill's in shorts and a t-shirt! We are loving this weather!
Jillian loves her brother! She wanted to hold him a few days ago, and hug on him. Man do I love these kids!
