Odds & Ends

These past 2 weeks have been crazy, to say the least.  I've been in baby 'over-drive' trying to get things done, and with me getting bigger and bigger thus more tired - it's getting challenging!  When I should be working on something or reading a baby book, I usually find myself falling asleep :)

I know I am so long over-due on a bump pic.  Everytime I think about it, I realize Jeff isnt here to take it - I will hopefully get one posted soon!

I had a sonogram Friday to see where the placenta is placed, and it has migrated up, so no cause for concern there!  It was a super-quick sono (probably 5 minutes or less) and she didnt take measurements so I have no idea how big Jillian is.  My book says around 3.5-4lbs, so we'll go with that.  I did get a few pictures of her, I'll try and post them later after I scan them in. Now that she's getting bigger, it's harder to take a good shot and not to mention her moving around the whole time made it hard to get a still shot.  She was SO cute to see!

So now that I'm obviously prego, it's so funny to see how perfect strangers react to me.  Most people look at my belly and then smile at me. What cracks me up are the ones wanting to know every detail of my pregnancy.  I've learned a 'quick' trip into a convenient store is no longer possible.  The lady behind the counter wants me to turn sideways so she can see my profile and guess what I'm having and how far along I am.  Of course they never believe me - they all think I'm too little (HA!) and carrying so low it must be a boy.  Then they proceed to ask how much weight I've gained (not kidding), the name, am I having cravings, etc.  Also it's hilarious how some waiters or servers in a restaurant or smoothie shop tell me what to order due to my 'condition' or 'state that I'm in' and what would be healthy for the baby.  Why they can't say the word pregnant, I dont know.

Here are a few pictures of the nursery paint (not quite done, as you can tell).  The owners before us had it painted light pink, most would say that's perfect for a little girl, but nope, I wanted green (I think Jeff was relieved):
Don't mind the RANDOM vanity sitting there.  We're re-doing the nursery bath.

Here are a few pictures of Jillian's outfits:
ADORABLE outfits from Jeff's mom and sister!

Ok, that's all.  I've rambled enough.  Off to eat dinner!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE....!!!

We are finally ready to announce our little girl's name!!! We have told both our families, and so far everyone loves her name!

Jillian Dean Gulbas

Jillian has been our favorite name for months, and infact we've been calling her that at home for quite some time. It just took a little getting used to for us to make the final decision on her name.

Dean has a special meaning for us to - it's Jeff's grandfathers name.

So there you have it - we are thrilled we can finally start calling her by her name all the time!

Since my parents are sadly the only family we have in town (everyone else on both sides are scattered throughout TX, CO, and MO) we decided to tell them in person in a unique way.

While we were over for Easter we gave them this wrapped gift:

Inside were cut-up letters for her first and middle name and they had to figure out her name like a puzzle.....

After about 3-4 minutes of playing with the letters (and making some hilarious guesses) they guessed Jillian and were so excited! They thought Dean was so sweet, and that her middle name had a great meaning.

We can't wait to meet our little Jillian!!

Easter!

We had a really good Easter weekend! Friday I went baby shopping with my mom and bought the baby's going home outfit! So fun! I also finally splurged and bought her some cute clothes, I really hadn't bought her any yet, so it was really fun!

Jeff worked half the day, and then went golfing with friends. That night we went to dinner with friends. Saturday I had a breast-feeding class that was a little terrifying. That 3 hour class was packed with information, I left with what I call a 'learning headache'. I feel there are so many things that can go wrong, and I'm scared it's going to take a while for me and our little girl to get into a good rhythm. Thank goodness for lactation consultants!

Sunday we went to church with my parents and then headed to their house afterwards for a yummy home-cooked meal. Here are pictures from our time at my parents house.

We helped them decorate their crib which was SO fun (since I'm still anxiously waiting for mine to arrive!). Here we are unwrapping the organic mattress:

Trying to figure out how to attach the sheet, wow was that a pain!

Here is the almost finished crib, all it's missing is a bed skirt. The bumpers are pink with chocolate piping, and the sheet is tiny chocolate dots.

and here's Jeff and I standing by grandma and grandpa's crib!
Here is the adorable Easter basket from my parents, filled with precious gifts for their grand-daughter:

Baby Hiccups!

Our little baby girl had her first round of hiccups last night! I've read that around this time babies in the womb experience hiccups because they are practicing breathing - our little one had them. I was laying in bed around 6:30 (yes that's right, laying in bed! my back was hurting, but I did get up soon after and play with Austin and get dinner going) and I started to feel this little 'tap' every 2 seconds pretty low. I laid there and realized she was having her first round of hiccups. They lasted for about 2-3 minutes, with this rhythmic tap every 2 seconds. Feeling that reassured me that she's doing well and is head-down. I always thought she was head-down b/c most of the movement I feel is above my belly button and I assumed that's her little feet. Also, I'm pretty sure I felt an elbow roll across my low belly a few nights ago, that was a strange feeling.

If you're wondering on how big she is - I've read (and the Dr confirmed) that she probably weights a little over 2 pounds and is around 14" long. My book described her as weighing as much as a head of cauliflower ....random I thought. We go in for our next visit on April 24th and we get another sonogram! Oh I can NOT wait to see her again. They recently told me I have a low-lying placenta and they want to take another look at it, but they are 99% sure it will have moved up so I can deliver naturally. We're crossing our fingers this is true :) So I will have current pictures to post of our baby in 3 weeks!

So Jeff and I have officially decided on her name! BUT, we still are not ready to announce it yet. We're going to tell both sets of parents first and of course siblings, before we post it on the blog. I hope to post her name after Easter if we can get in touch with everyone! I'm so excited to start monogramming.... well, I say that but I really dont have anything to monogram yet. All I have is one changing pad cover I want to put her first initial on. Oh well, either way we are SO excited to let everyone know her name (and monogram!)

Lastly, Jeff's mom and sister got us the most adorable outfits while they were in Aspen last week. I'll take pictures of the outfits soon and post them - they are precious!
